About Norbert Wicki

During his early education, he focused primarily on economics and received a Swiss Maturity Diploma (baccalaureat) emphasizing economics and law. He then moved on to obtain a degree in jurisprudence from a Swiss university. However, upon leaving the university, Norbert Wicki realized that he did not want to limit his career exploration to the legal field alone. That’s why Norbert Wicki started another education as a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). After getting his diploma he wants to practice his skills in both, asset management and international private banking.

Career

He began his early career by working as assistant to the head of international private banking in UBS Zurich. The next step leads him into portfolio management, a career choice which would later guide him into private banking and, later, project management and financing. During this time, he worked within several institutions, including UBS, Dresdner Bank, and BNP Paribas. His achievements in these roles ultimately propelled him into a management position at BNP Paribas, where he was given the responsibility of directing a portion of the company’s initiatives in the international private banking sector.

The directorship proved to be a sturdy professional stepping-stone in Norbert Wicki’s career. After his tenure with BNP Paribas, Wicki stepped into the role of CEO and, later, President of the Board of Directors for the Centrex Group in Switzerland. Centrex is an internationally-recognized corporation known for its far-reaching work in the energy sector.  Highlights of Norbert Wicki’s time in leadership include overseeing gas trading ventures in Central Asia and guiding investment projects across Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.

Following his time at Centrex, Norbert Wicki decided to strike out independently and pursue his longstanding interest in entrepreneurship. He founded and later served as the President of the Board of Directors for Private Asset Partners AG, a licensed Swiss asset manager and multi-family office. However, Wicki didn’t stop with one venture; soon after, he established and began managing Agrocore Finance AG, a financial consulting firm that centered on advising clients in commodity and trade finance matters. He founded his third venture, Wicki Consulting, concurrently with Agrocore. Norbert Wicki stood as the last company’s CEO and dedicated himself to advising private and corporate clients alike on how they could structure tailor-made financial products to meet their needs.

In 2015, Norbert Wicki left Switzerland to pursue business interests in Azerbaijan, where he founded and build up successfully the Representative office of Private Asset Partners AG’s branch in Baku. He started as the first foreigner to introduce modern banking instruments in the Azeri financial market. After the successful establishment of this business unit, Norbert Wicki relocated in 2017 once more- this time to Dubai- and shifted his attention to his most recent entrepreneurial initiative: WETEC Consulting. At WETEC, Norbert Wicki and his team center mostly on project management, development and financing, although they also advise Russian and European clients on how to make the most of their business endeavors in the Middle East. Norbert Wicki is a real entrepreneur and is active in various fields in Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Middle East and Europe.

Outside of Work

All that said, Norbert Wicki’s interests are not confined to the finance sector. Outside of work, Norbert is an avid tennis player and animal lover; he currently has two dogs and a cat. He also has a passion for winemaking and tasting that dates back to his childhood, when he would accompany his father on wine-centered excursions. Today, he enjoys reading about wine, visiting craft seminars, and planning wine-centered holidays.

Norbert Wicki currently lives and works in Dubai.
